Vermont Jeweler Athena Bandit
She grew up with sand between her toes and paint under her fingernails.
California raised her on windswept beaches and blazing sun — long afternoons spent soaking up color before she even knew she'd need it. The gold of dry hills, the blue-grey of fog rolling off the coast, the impossible pink of a sunset over water — it all settled somewhere in her, waiting.
She went to college to paint, and left with a torch in her hand instead.
She went to college to paint — chasing brushstrokes and canvas, certain that was the whole of it. But somewhere along the way, metal found her instead. Fire, hammer, raw sheet silver taking shape under her hands — a different kind of color, a different kind of patience, and she never looked back.
Eventually the coast gave way to something quieter: Vermont, where she built a studio and put down roots of her own.
She traded the coastline for the wild quiet of the woods — and brought California with her anyway.
Vermont asked for a different kind of attention than the coast ever had — not blazing sun, but four distinct seasons, each one rewriting the landscape from scratch. Spring mud giving way to green. Summer thick with the hum of insects and long, golden light. Autumn setting the hillsides on fire before winter buries it all in snow and silence.
But the West never quite left her. That windswept, sun-bleached sensibility fused with the rugged, unpolished beauty of her new home, and somewhere in that overlap, her studio took root — tucked into the woodlands, wood smoke and hammer strikes replacing salt air and boardwalks. Every year of art school, every hour spent studying color and form, still moves through her hands now, in every piece she makes.
Rooted in the Wild- Never Meant To Be Tamed
Athena lives suspended in the current of it all — moving from idea to idea, always creating, always shifting, never quite finished. Today, that current runs through a small studio tucked into the Vermont woodlands, where her work takes shape before making its way to museum stores, fine retailers, and galleries across the country.
