Blue Plume Agate Doublet Necklace | Copper Inclusions | One of a Kind Gemstone Pendant | Handmade Sterling Silver
A whole landscape, held in a single stone.
This blue plume agate doublet is anything but quiet. Look closely and there is so much happening inside: layers of drifting plumes, shifting depths of blue, and flecks of copper caught in the stone like sparks. Every time you look, you notice something new.
A doublet is a thin slice of plume agate bonded to a backing, which supports the stone and lets everything inside it show clearly. I chose this stone because I could not stop looking at it, then set it by hand in a sterling silver bezel on a sterling silver chain. Nothing is cast and nothing is premade. Because every plume agate forms its own pattern, this necklace is truly one of a kind, and this stone is especially unique. The stone in the photos is the one you will receive, and once it is gone, there is no other like it.
It is a natural conversation piece over a simple sweater or a plain white tee, and it looks lovely with winter neutrals. It also makes a gift for someone who loves a stone with character.
Sterling silver, Gold, and Jeweler's Brass
Brass Pieces will develop a deep gold patina over time. Sterling silver will develop a black patina. To remove this you can use a jewelry polishing cloth like Sunshine Polishing cloths.
Gold pieces may be cleaned with a soft cotton cloth only - we do not recommend cleaning with commercial cleaners.
Storage
Keeping your jewelry away from moisture and storing it in a cool dry place will slow the tarnishing process. Your jewelry came with a 1' anti- tarnish tab. You can use this in your jewelry box to help absorb moisture.
Gemstones
The use of commercial products is not recommended for cleaning any of the gemstones in the Athena Bandit jewelry collection. You may clean stones using a soft cloth and mild, lukewarm soapy water. Some stones, such as Coral, Spiny Oyster Shell, Opals, Jade, Turquoise, and Pearls are delicate and should be cleaned using a soft cloth only. Using any products on these stones may harm them.
The Beauty of Metal + Stone
Every stone in this collection is its own small world. Some hold a misty shoreline, pale blue and drifting, as if the tide had just pulled away. Others glow like a canyon at dusk, a field of wildflowers, or a forest floor in deep green and shadow. Look closely and you’ll find clouds, ripples, lace, constellations and weather, all formed slowly in the earth over millions of years. Each stone is chosen for its color, its pattern and its quiet beauty, and no two are ever alike. These are one-of-a-kind pieces, and once a favorite finds its home, there is no other like it.
