This high dome tanzanite is a lovely light purple, soft and glowing like the last lavender light after the sun goes down. It rises from its setting like a small, luminous pool of color. The strand it hangs from is brilliant zircon, strung so full of sparkle that it catches the light with every breath.
About the stone: Tanzanite is found in only one place on earth, in the hills near Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, and it was first discovered in the 1960s. It is known for shifting between blue and violet depending on the light and the angle you view it from.
Metaphysical properties: Tanzanite is traditionally associated with intuition, spiritual awareness and calm, and with clear, heartfelt communication. Zircon is said to carry clarity and confidence, so this strand pairs insight with sparkle.
I set the tanzanite by hand in sterling silver, then hung it from a strand of zircon beads, each one strung individually on silk thread. Nothing is cast and nothing is premade.
